Frank Johncock was born in Upper Holloway, London and joined the Royal Naval Air Service on 20th August 1917 serving as a 3rd Class Air Mechanic (No. 236027). Initially at Blandford, he would travel to Port Said, Egypt arriving on 21st May 1918 and serving there until he returned to the United Kingdom on 7th October 1919 with his unit, 269th Squadron.
He would be transferred to the Royal Air Force Reserve on 3rd December 1919.
