William Walker saw service as a 2nd Class Air Mechanic (No. 115411) with the Royal Flying Corps from 19th November 1917 and later with the Royal Air Force from its formation on 1st April 1918 seeing service in France from 26th February 1917 until 19th November 1917. He would be transferred to the Royal Air Force Reserve on 23rd February 1919 and would be finally discharge on 30th April 1920.
