Robert Cochrane Davidson was born at Larkhall, Lanarkshire and enlisted on 18th August 1917 seeing service as a Gunner (No. 39299) with the 2nd Divisional Artillery Column, Australian Imperial Force and embarked the S.S. ‘Port Darwin’ at Sydney on 30th April 1918, he would arrive in France on 17th October 1918 being taken on strength of the 2nd Divisional Artillery Column on 2nd November 1918.
He would be admitted to hospital sick on 21st December 1918, and would return to Australia on 19th April 1919 where he would be discharged due to sickness.
