Great War Officer’s casualty pair awarded to Lieutenant G.G. Wise, 15th Battalion, London Regiment – Prince of Wales’ Own Civil Service Rifles who saw service on the Western Front from April 1917 and was wounded during the fighting at Zonnebeke in October 1917 before being invalided in October 1918.

George Gregory Wise was born in South Weald, near Brentwood, Essex and attended Sir A. Browne’s Grammar School in Brentwood which is now known as Brentwood School and then graduated with a B.Sc.E from London College. He would subsequently be employed as a Mathematics Master at a Secondary School at the time of the 1911 census.
During the Great War, Wise would serve as a Lieutenant in the 15th Battalion, London Regiment – Prince of Wales’ Own Civil Service Rifles arriving in France in April 1917. He would be wounded in the fighting near Zonnebeke during August 1917 before being invalided in October 1918.
