Walter Edmund Batstone was born in Yeovil and would see service as an Acting Sergeant (No. 1191, later No. 200105) with the 1st/4th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment in Mesopoamia, later dying of disease on 24th July 1917 and is now buried in the Amara War Cemetery.
Batstone is further noted on the Huntsham 1914-1918 War Memorial, which states he was the son of John and Elizabeth Batstone, born in Muchelney, Somerset in 1887, and also appears on the Bampton 1914-1918 War Memorial where he ss further noted as the husband of Minnie Batstone.
