Alfred Allwood was born in Reddish, Cheshire and enlisted at Salford, Lancashire before enlisted as a Private (No. 2365) and seeing service with the 1st/8th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers.
Landing at Gallipoli on 5th May 1915, he would likely take part in the Second Battle of Krithia between 6th-8th May before being wounded. He died of his wounds on 14th June 1915 and is buried at Pieta Military Cemetery. He is noted as the husband of Margaret Allwood, 11 Lord Street, Lower Ormand Street, Chorlton-On-Medlock, Manchester.
