Andrew Shakevitch was born in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, resided at Greenock and enlisted at Glengarnock, Ayrshire before seeing service as a Private (No. 7374) with the 1st/4th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers at Gallipoli from 6th June 1915 during the Battalion’s taking over of the trenches near Gully Ravine from 4th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment.
He would be killed in action on 12th June 1915 and having no known grave is remembered on the Helles Memorial.
