Charles Henry Foxwell was born in Cheltenham a the second son of Sidney Edward and Ada E. Foxwell of 2 Cudnall Street, Charlton Kings. He enlisted originally as Private (No. 238829) with the Gloucester Yeomanry Cyclist Regiment in Bristol giving a home address in Cheltenham but would later transfer to the 1st/8th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers.
Foxwell died at No.3 General Hospital, Le Treport of severe wounds on 25th September 1918 received during the battles to break the Hindenburg Line and is buried in Mont Huon Cemetery, Le Treport.
