Great War Battle of the Somme Military Medal recipient’s and later casualty 1914-1915 Star and British War Medal pair awarded to Corporal, later Company Serjeant Major A.E. Drury, 17th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment who saw service on the Western Front from 17th November 1915 and would be awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 21st October 1916 and later died of wounds on 15th November 1916. He is now buried in Varennes Military Cemetery.

Albert E. Drury was born in Rudgway, Gloucestershire and saw service as a Corporal, later Company Serjeant Major (No. F-339) with the 17th Battalion, Middlesex Regiment on the Western Front from 17th November 1915 and would be awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 21st October 1916, a Gazette that covers awards for the Battle of the Somme.
Drury subsequently died of wounds on 15th November 1916 and is now buried in Varennes Military Cemetery.
