William Charles Battley saw service as a Private (No. 6235) with the 3rd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers on the Western Front from 7th March 1915 and would be killed in action whilst serving with ‘C’ Company, 3rd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers on 27th September 1915, aged 18. Having no known grave he is remembered on the Loos Memorial, and is further noted as the son of William and Sarah Battley of 44 Arragon Road, Twickenham Road, Middlesex.
