Arthur Ribbick was born in 1885 in St. John’s, Winchester, Hampshire and attested to the 3rd Battalion, Hampshire Regiment during April 1902. He would later be recalled to serve on the Western Front as a Private (No. 7194) with the 1st Battalion, Hampshire Regiment from 23rd August 1914 and is noted as wounded and a Prisoner of War after the Battle of Le Cateau on 25th August 1914. He is confirmed as a casualty in the Sheffield Daily Telegraph on 5th October 1914.
