Great War Battle of Arras Military Medal and later German Spring Offensive casualty group awarded to Corporal T.H. Allen, 2nd Imperial Light Horse, later 3rd Regiment, South African Infantry who would be awarded a Military Medal in the London Gazette of 9th July 1917, which covers awards for both Arras and Vimy Ridge, his regiment being present at the Battle of Arras. He would be killed in action on 21st March 1918 – the first day of the German Spring Offensive. Having no known grave he is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial.

Thomas Hodgson Allen saw service with the 2nd Battalion, Imperial Light Horse and later with the 3rd Regiment, South African Infantry, being awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 9th July 1917.
He would later be killed in action as a Sergeant Major with the 2nd Regiment, South African Infantry on 21st March 1918 – the first day of the German Spring Offensive and having no known grave is remembered on the Pozieres Memorial. He is noted as the son of Jacob and Isabella Allen of 23 Fourth Street, Premier Mine, Transvaal.
The Gazette of 9th July 1917 largely covers awards for the Battles of Arras and Vimy Ridge, the 3rd Regiment of South African Infantry taking part in the Battle of Arras in April 1917 making this award likely a Military Medal for that Battle.
