Great War 1914 Western Front casualty pair awarded to Corporal F.A. Atkins, 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment who having been stationed in India upon the outbreak of war would arrive on the Western Front from 12th October 1914, subsequently being killed in action on 12th November 1914, then being buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L’Avoue.
Pair: British War Medal and Victory Medal; (7569 CPL. F.A. ATKINS. LEIC. R.). Along with hallmarked silver medallion ‘SCC Winners Inter Coy As Soc League 1911’ the reverse engraved to ‘F. Atkins’

Frederick Arthur Atkins was born in Humberstone, Leicestershire and enlisted at Leicester on 21st November 1904. He would initially serve at home, but would travel to India aboard the SS Dongola on 21st September 1906. Whilst in india he would be stationed at Belgaum, Madras and Bareilly and Ranikhet. Returning home, he would subsequently see service as a Corporal (No. 7569) with the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment on the Western Front from 12th October 1914 and would be killed in action on 12th November 1914 and is now buried in Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L’Avoue.
Atkins is additionally entitled to a 1914 Star.
