Charles William Gingell was born in Putney and having enlisted would go on to see service as a Private, later Lance Corporal (No. DEAL-1592-S) with the Royal Marines, Royal Naval Divisional Train, it is not noted where he served before arriving at Mudros on 20th January 1916, but it is highly likely he would have served at Gallipoli. He would later see service on the Western Front.
