Germany - Third Reich: Wound Badge 1939, Black Grade, no maker mark, black painted magnetic steel type, with vertical brass needle pin fitting. The paintwork on the swastika has been intentionally removed by the recipient, as commonly seen, and done in order to highlight the symbol. Otherwise the paintwork on the obverse and reverse is generally excellent. A very good example of type.
Condition: small traces of red wax on reverse, overall Good Very Fine.
The Black Grade or 3rd Class of the Wound Badge was awarded for being wounded one or two times via hostile action.
