Condition: Extremely Fine.
During the Third Reich period, the Wiener Neustädter Flugzeugwerke (WNF) consisted of two plants (I and II). In today's "Industrial Area North" east of Wiener Straße - out of town after the radiator factory - was the Wiener Neustädter aircraft factory. The company was able to start producing aircraft again in 1935, but the number of aircraft manufactured under license was very small. It was only from 1938 onwards that this site (Plant I) was expanded extensively, hundreds of skilled workers were hired and aircraft were produced in extremely large numbers for the German Wehrmacht. WNF Plant I grew in an easterly direction until 1942, surrounding the radiator factory and along the Pottendorf railway line. The extensive area had five particularly large production halls (35, 36, 39, 43, 45). The works railway ran in a semicircle to the Pottendorf railway line, so that deliveries and heavy or large transport could be carried out. The particular advantage for production was the fact that the WNF was directly connected to Airfield III, which served as a factory airfield. The necessary test flights - i.e. the necessary "flying in" but also tests - were carried out on airfield III. There was even a separate sports area for employees on the factory premises because the WNF was also considered a model company for the German Labor Front (DAF).
