Germany - Third Reich: Spanish Civil War related Kreigsmarine ‘Panzerschiff Admiral Scheer’ crewman’s photograph album, the cover decorated with an image of the ship and its name. Some 83 original photographs, the majority pre war and dealing with the Admiral Scheer’s first overseas deployment in 1936 when she was sent to Spain to evacuate German civilians caught in the midst of the Spanish Civil War. From 8 August 1936 she served on non-intervention patrols off the Republican-held coast of Spain. She served four tours of duty with the non-intervention patrol through June 1937, and then returned to the Mediterranean between August and October 1937. The album mostly covers this period of service aboard Admiral Scheer, with a number of places annotated, and runs into the beginning of the Second World War, Numerous images of sailors are contained with the album.
Condition: some wear and tear consummate with age and handling. Only a couple of photographs missing. Reasonable Condition
