Germany - Third Reich: Kriegsmarine E-Boat Badge, otherwise known as the Fast Attack Craft War Badge, 2nd type post January 1943 issue, with horizontal needle pin fitting, and top stabilising hook, and bearing markers marks for Fec. W.E. Peekhaus of Schwerin, Berlin. Of late war construction but retaining some of its greyed wreath finish.
Condition: some of wash now faded, overall Good Very Fine or better.
The badge was awarded to members of the Kriegsmarine for service on fast attack craft or torpedo boats. Requirements included an outstandingly successful sortie, wounds in action, 12 sorties against enemy vessels or installations, or outstanding leadership. The badge was produced in two versions: the first, instituted on 30 May 1941; the second in January 1943. Both were designed by Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus of Berlin
