Germany - Third Reich: An exceptionally rare Waffen-SS Winter Camouflaged M-40 single decal steel Combat Helmet, with SS runes decal and thick winter camouflage applied to the Q66 marked shell exterior, complete with original liner and chinstrap.
An exceptionally rare Waffen-SS Winter Camouflaged M-40 single decal steel Combat Helmet, with SS runes decal 85% present, and thick winter cream-white camouflage paint over the underlying dark green paintwork which remained completed exposed inside the helmet and is 90% complete. The shell is marked Q66 and 10033 and has the feint remains of a name painted onto the interior skirt, ‘R. Nitsch SS Uicha’. Complete with its original leather liner and chinstrap.
Condition. Service wear commensurate with age, the leather liner and chinstrap dry and cracked in places.

The current vendor purchased this helmet from a dealer in the USA, possibly indicating that it was a souvenir picked up by an American GI during the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes, Belgium.
