Ludwigslust airfield was situated roughly 100 kilometres south-east of Hamburg and was built during 1934-1935.
For most of the Second World War it acted as a flight training school, until in the last six months of the war it hosted various fighter and fighter/bomber squadrons that had been evacuating from the Soviet advance in the east.
