Germany - Imperial: German Army Identity Disc, 1878-1915 pattern, this of oval zinc form measuring 51 mm in width across the face, and stamped: ‘RJR 259’ and ‘2X 270’ on one side, and ‘2.259’ on the other side, though this appears to have been intentionally crossed out with a line scored through it. As worn by a solider in the Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 259. This affixed to its original neck cord, bearing the black and white colours of Prussia. A very fine example.
Condition: overall Good Very Fine.
The Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 259 formed part of the 78th Reserve Infantry Brigade in the 39th Reserve Corps. The regiment largely recruited men from Oldenburg in Saxony.
