The Bronze Medal for Merit was awarded without crown/reef above the medal. There are 6 variations of the obverse, Knjaz Alexander, Knjaz Ferdinand, Tsar Ferdinand I, Tsar Boris III, Tsar Boris III (With "A" missing from Bulgaria) and a regent coat of arms. If awarded during periods of war (14–28 November 1885, 8 October 1912 – 30 May 1913, 29 June – 31 July 1913, 14 October 1918 – 29 September 1918 and 1 March 1941 – 9 May 1945) this medal was issued with an alternate war time ribbon. All of these factors together make a great many different variations of this award.
