Jones was born in Broughton, Norfolk and enlisted in Norwich before he saw service as a Private (No. 34594) with the 8th Battalion, East Surrey Regiment and would be declared missing on 23rd March 1918 and was later confirmed as killed in action on this date. Having no known grave he is now remembered on the Pozieres Memorial.
