William Herbert McPherson was born in Westminster, Middlesex and was a resident of Plaistow, Essex when he enlisted at Poplar. He was killed in action on 28th March 1918 whilst serving with the ’C’ Company, 2nd Battalion, Essex Regiment. Having no known grave he is remembered on the Arras Memorial. He is noted as the son of the late Donald Ross McPherson and Annie McPherson, and the husband of Ethel McPherson.
