Neil Stewart Edwards was born in Framfield, near Uckfield, Sussex and giving his trade as a Fitters Mate, joined the Royal Air Force on 13th September 1923 and would subsequently serve with No.6 Armoured Car Company, Royal Air Force against the Akhwan in the Southern Desert, under the command of Air Commodore T.C.R. Higgins between 8 and 22 January 1928, or under the command of Wing Commander E.R.C. Nanson between 22 January and 3 June 1928.
Edwards was later transferred to the Royal Air Force Reserve on 13th September 1931.
