France: Industrial and Maritime Union Company (Union Industrielle et Maritime Cie) Commemorative Medal issued to commemorate the launch of the French Cargo Vessel ”Capitaine St Martin” on 7 December 1938. This large medallion, measuring 73 mm across, was created from a re-strike of the famed Louis XIV Naval Medallion commemorating the Glory of the French Navy, and is cast in bronze, and marked as such on the rim. Housed in its original card box.
Condition: Nearly Extremely Fine.
The French Cargo Vessel ”Capitaine St Martin” went on to play an honoured role under the Free French merchant fleet during the Second World War.
