Framed and Glazed Western Front Great War pair and plaque awarded to Private R.H. Boughton, 7th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment who was killed in action on 31st January 1917 aged just 18 years old and is now buried in Couin New British Cemetery.

Two letters home from Robert to his parents the first dated 16th December 1916, the second undated and three pages long detailing how he’d been given his infantry kit and that he had been posted to the South Lancs Regiment with the service number 38172 (sic)
Robert Boughton was born in Westbury, Gloucestershire, resided in Efton, Gloucestershire and enlisted at Newport, Monmouthshire. He would see service as a Private (No. 37172) with the 7th Battalion, South Lancashire Regiment on the Western Front and was killed in action on 31st January 1917, aged just 18 years old and is now buried in Couin New British Cemetery. He is noted as the son of Oliver and Emily Boughton of Arles Farm, Elton, Newnham, Gloucestershire.
