Frederick Cater Coleman was born in Upton, Torquay and having enlisted saw service as a Serjeant (No. 10711) with the 8th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment, seeing service on the Western Front from 25th July 1915 and subsequently being killed in action on 25th September 1915, the First Day of the Battle of Loos and having no known grave is now remembered on the Loos Memorial. He is noted as the husband of Louisa Augusta Coleman of 62 Sherburn Road, Torquay.
