He would die of these wounds on 5th July 1916 and is now buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen.

Richard Brough was born in Grangetown, Middlesbrough and would later see service as a Private (No. 16197) with the 1st Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment on the Western Front from 23rd June 1915. He would suffer multiple gun shot wounds on 1st July 1916 – the first day of the Battle of the Somme, and would die of these wounds on 5th July 1916. He is now buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen.
1st Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment attacked near Fricourt as part of the 7th Division on the morning of 1st July and is noted as having suffered 750 casualties amongst the ranks and 22 casualties amongst their officers.
