Extremely rare British North Borneo Company Medal 1900, clasp: Tambunan an old striking in bronze, with correct engraved naming as awarded to Private Karim Buz who took part in an expedition led by Captain C.H. Harrington in January and February 1900 against Mat Saleh who incited the Tegas tribe against the Taiwan Dusans in the Tambunan Valley. Saleh’s stronghold was captured on 1st February and he was killed during the action. 1 of 116 named bronze medals.

This medal was awarded for an expedition led by Captain C.H. Harrington in January and February 1900 against Mat Saleh who incited the Tegas tribe against the Taiwan Dusans in the Tambunan Valley. The Company forces stormed and captured Saleh's stronghold on 1st February and Saleh was killed during the action. Spink records list 7 silver medals engraved to officers, and 116 bronze medals engraved and numbered to other ranks. Bronze medals could be exchanged for silver in 1905-06. Of the 116 named bronze medal recipients, 36 received a replacement silver medal with impressed naming. Additionally Spink records note 10 unnamed silver medals supplied in 1906 and another 12 unnamed medals supplied in 1909.
