Egypt Medal 1882-1889, dated reverse, 1 Clasp; Tel-El-Kebir awarded to Private E. Baxter, Royal Marines who saw service in Egypt during the Egyptian War and would be present at the Battle of Tel-El-Kebir on 13th September 1882. He later died in Northern Hospital, Liverpool on 3rd February 1887 from the effects of immersion in the Mersey whilst in a state of absence.

Edward Baxter was born near Gloucester and attested on 11th May 1880 joining the Recruit Depot, he would join Chatham Division on 23rd December 1880 serving with 9th Company,. He would serve aboard Northumberland from 26th July 1882, he would then join the Battalion in Egypt on 20th August 1882 serving until 23rd October 1882 and taking part in the Battle of Tel-El-Kebir on 13th September 1882.
Subsequently returning to Chatham Division on 24th October 1882, he would join Thalia from 29th December 1882 until 16th March 1883. He would then join Curaco until 22nd June 1886, when he was paid off, returning to Chatham Division.
His paper notes him as having died on 3rd February 1887 whilst in Northern Hospital, Liverpool from the effects of immersion in the Mersey whilst in a state of absence.
