Efficiency Medal, GVI 1st type bust, Territorial suspension; awarded to Lieutenant later Captain F.C. Holdstock, Royal Artillery, Territorial Army, who originally came from Reading, Berkshire, was commissioned in September 1941, and having seen service during the Second World War, was then awarded the Efficiency Medal in February 1947. He latterly resided in Folkestone, Kent.

Frederick Charles Holdstock was born in April 1908 in Reading, Berkshire, and was formerly an enlisted man and then Officer Cadet before being commissioned into the Territorial Army as a 2nd Lieutenant (No.207178) with the Royal Artillery on 6 September 1941. He saw service during the Second World War, and was a Lieutenant and Honorary Captain when he was awarded the Efficiency Medal in the London Gazette for 21 February 1947. Having previously held an Emergency Commission, he was then granted a Short Service Commission as a Lieutenant on 11 April 1950, with seniority backdated to 1 October 1942, the date of his original promotion to Lieutenant, and on the same date he was promoted to Captain with seniority backdated to 1 July 1947. Transferred from the Active List to the Reserve of Officers Class I List on 11 April 1954, he was further moved in the rank of Captain to the Reserve of Officers Class III List on 11 April 1958. He died on 4 October 1980 in Folkestone, Kent.
