Distinguished Conduct Medal winner’s 1914-1915 Star awarded to Serjeant P. Grant, Royal Irish Regiment, later Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers who saw service on the Western Front from 19th December 1914 and would be awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in the London Gazette of 11th March 1920 for his conduct during the operations in Flanders in September – November 1918 where in many dangerous positions his coolness gave confidence to the men, his gallantry on many occasions has earned for him the admiration and respect of all ranks in the battalion.’

Peter Grant saw service as a Serjeant (No. 7768) with the Royal Irish Regiment, and later as a Company Serjeant Major (No. 45200) with the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. He saw service on the Western Front from 19th December 1914 and survived the war to be discharged to the reserve.
He would be awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in the London Gazette of 11th March 1920 for his service with 7/8th Battalion, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, the citation reading:
‘He has shown initiative and powers of command, and in many dangerous positions his coolness gave confidence to the men. His gallantry on many occasions has earned for him the admiration and respect of all ranks in the battalion. His conduct was especially noticeable during the operations in Flanders in September – November 1918.’
