Defence of Malaya casualty group awarded to Signalman, later Lance Corporal W.C. Hills, 9th Indian Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals who served on the North West Frontier during the operations in Waziristan against the Fakir of Ipi in the period from 15th December 1937 to 1st January 1940, and then later during the Second World War in the Defence of Malaya being killed in action on 24th December 1941. He is buried in Taiping War Cemetery.

William Charles Hills saw service as a Signalman, later Lance Corporal (No. 2325726) with the 9th Indian Divisional Signals, Royal Corps of Signals who served on the North West Frontier during the operations in Waziristan against the Fakir of Ipi in the period from 15th December 1937 to 1st January 1940, and then later during the Second World War in the Defence of Malaya that took place beginning on 8th December 1941.
Hills was killed in action on 24th December 1941 aged 26 and is buried in Taiping War Cemetery
