William Freeman saw service as a Trumpeter (No. 1315) with the 1st Dragoon Guards in Crimea during the Crimean War and would be present during the siege of Sebastopol which lasted from 11th September 1854 to 9th September 1855. He would be present in Bangalore at the time of the 1861 census.
