George Brunell enlisted 28th June 1854, and would see service in the Crimea as a Corporal (No. 3836) with the 1st Battalion, Rifle Brigade taking part in the siege of Sebastopol which lasted from September 1854 through to September 1855. He would purchase his discharge for £20 on 6th March 1857.
