Frederick Chandler saw service as a Private (No. 3510) wit the 1st Dragoon Guards in South Africa during the Boer War and would take part in operations in Cape Colony and Orange Free State. He was wounded at Bankplaats on 5th May 1901 and died of his wounds on 10th May 1901.
