Casualty Egypt Medal 1882-1889, undated reverse, 2 Clasps: Suakin 1885, Tofrek awarded to Private D. Farmer, 1st Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment who saw service in Egypt during the Egyptian War where he would be present during the Suakin 1885 operations which lasted from 1st March to 14th May 1885, including being in the action at Tofrek on 22nd March 1885 where he was slightly wounded. 1 of over 100 British and Indians who were wounded in the action, with an additional 70 being killed.

Condition: toned, contact wear at 3 o’clock slightly obscuring the naming, and to the obverse, as expected as if the medal had been in contact with a Khedive’s Star, Very Fine
Davud Farmer was born in Wootton’s Lawrence near Basingstoke, Hampshire and giving his trade as a Labourer attested at Reading on 28th May 1883 and would initially serve at home until on 20th September 1883 he travelled to Gibraltar where he remained until 20th August 1884 before travelling to Egypt where during the Egyptian War he would present during the Suakin 1885 operations which lasted from 1st March to 14th May 1885, including being in the action at Tofrek on 22nd March 1885 where he was slightly wounded. 1 of over 100 British and Indians who were wounded in the action, with an additional 70 being killed.
He would leave Egypt on 1st June 1886 travelling to Cyprus on 2nd February 1888 and then Malta on 3rd February 1888 before returning home to the UK on 6th April 1891. He would be finally discharged on 27th May 1895.
