Lewis Cecil Heggs was born in Houghton-On-The-Hill, Leicestershire and giving his trade as Brass Moulder saw service as a Private (No. 26852) with the Leicestershire Regiment on the Western Front. He would be killed in action on 1st October 1917 whilst serving with the 8th Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment and is now remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
