John Phillips Hoare was born in Liskeard, Cornwall, resided at St. Minver, Cornwall and enlisted at Bodmin, before seeing service with the 5th (Prince of Wales’s) Battalion, Devon Regiment – Territorial Force. He died in France on 30th October 1918 and is now buried in St. Sever Cemetery, Rouen.
