Canadian Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Korean War and Qualified Parachutist's pair awarded to Private 1st Class M.J. Gauthier, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Battalion’s, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, who saw service in Korean during the Korean War on operation between July 1952 and November 1953, and in March 1954 was awarded his Canadian Para Badge.

Korea Medal 1950-1953, Canadian issue; (SC.17199 M.J. GAUTHIER); United Nations Medal for Korea 1950-1955, British and Commonwealth issue. Mounted swing style for wear.

Maurice Jean Gauthier enrolled into the Canadian Army as a Private (No.SC.17199) with No.13 Personnel Depot of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps on 18th October 1951, and was then posted to the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry at Ottawa on 22nd October 1951 and two days later was posted to Borden, followed by Ipperwash from 19th February 1952, and then saw service out in the Far East from 25th March 1952, embarking from Canada four days later and after travelling via Japan, then arrived in Korea on 3rd May 1952 and on 24th July joined the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry for active service. He transferred to the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry whilst in Korea on 3rd November 1952, and was reclassified as a Private 1st Class on 18th February 1953.

Gauthier arrived home on 14th November 1953, and in January 1954 was posted back to the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, and then passed the Canadian Para Jump Course No.213 at Calgary on 13th March 1954, when he was awarded the Canadian Para Badge. Gauthier was eventually released from service on 4th November 1954. Confirmed as his full entitlement.
