J. Bartlett saw service as a Private (No. 108084) with the 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles Battalion on the Western Front and died of wounds on 5th February 1916 subsequently being buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery Extension. He had previous suffered gun shot wounds and had a leg amputated.
