A rare 1st Cheshire and Carnarvon Volunteer Artillery Officer's Home Service Helmet, circa 1880-1901. Standard pattern complete with all plated fittings, white metal helmet plate attached, inside of helmet bears the hatters details for: 'Hobson & Sons of Lexington St., Golden Square, London. Complete with its original hat tin, though name plate removed and paintwork now flaking in places. Condition: slight wear to leatherwork on the backing to the chin scales, inner green leather peak now scuffed in places, however outer 'blue' cloth in very good condition, and a very good example overall. Good Very Fine. The tin is as described above. This unit and insignia changed in 1901 to incorporate its new title of the 1st Cheshire and Carnarvon Royal Garrison Artillery Volunteers.
