Awarded to Lance Corporal (No.24727547) D.M. Harrison, 21st Special Air Service Regiment and Royal Logistics Corps, who served operationally as part of the NATO forces in Former Yugoslavia and Kosovo, before seeing further service in Afghanistan. A Volunteer Reservist with the 21st Special Air Service Regiment, he was possibly attached for operations with the Royal Logistics Corps in Afghanistan, or else had by then transferred, and served in all 20 years, initially with the Territorial Army from 1988, he would have been transferred into the Volunteer Reserves in 1999, being belatedly awarded the Volunteer Reserves Service Medal which he would have in fact qualified for a year before its creation, but would not have served then long enough for the Efficiency Medal which it replaced. Harrison was then awarded his Second Award bar to the Volunteer Reserves Service Medal in 2003, and the Third Award bar in 2008.
