As carried by Walter Murray Slade who saw service during the Great War as a Private (No.PS-3251) with the 21st Service Battalion - 4th Public Schools, Royal Fusiliers - City of London Regiment, and was present out on the Western Front from 14th November 1915 before being commissioned on 4th August 1916 as a 2nd Lieutenant into the 3rd Reserve Battalion, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, and then attached as a Lieutenant to the Machine Gun Corps.
