Awarded to Private (No.2793) T. Jones, 1st Battalion, East Lancashire Regiment, who saw service during the Punjab Frontier operations which lasted from 10th June 1897 to 6th April 1898, and went on to see service during the Boer War being present on operations in the Cape Colony and the Orange Free State, and in action at Johannesburg. He was discharged ‘time expired’ shortly after the end of the conflict. Additionally entitled to the Queen’s South Africa Medal with three clasps for Johannesburg, Cape Colony and Orange Free State, and the King’s South Africa Medal with two clasps.
