British Empire Medal, Military Division, GRJ cypher awarded to Chief Petty Officer Writer Sydney F. Stone, Royal Navy who first serving from 16th November 1926 would go on be awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 11th December 1941 whilst serving aboard H.M.S. Duke of York. He would be awarded the British Empire Medal in the London Gazette of 14th June 1945.

Sydney Francis Stone was born in Devonport, Devon on 3rd September 1906, he would be too young to see service during the Great War, and first joined the Royal Navy on 16th November 1926 as a Shipwright. Still serving at the outbreak of the Second World War he would be awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal whilst serving aboard H.M.S. Duke of York on 11th December 1941 and would receive the medal on 8th January 1942 as well as the British Empire Medal in the London Gazette of 14th June 1945 whilst serving as a Chief Petty Officer Write. Stone died in Plymouth on 21st February 1954
