Boer War pair awarded to Private W. Mount 1st Battalion, later 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs who having initially see service in India on operations during the Relief of Chitral between 2nd April 1895 and 18th September 1895 and then on operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 through to 6th April 1898. Subsequently he would see service in South Africa during the Boer War on operations service at the Relief of Kimberley on 15th February 1900, in action at Paardeberg on 17th to 26th February 1900, and at Driefontein on 10th March 1900, as well as on operations in the Transvaal.

William Henry Mount was born in Milton, Sittingbourne and attested at Chatham on 23rd November 1892.
Posted as a Private (No. 3989) with the 1st Battalion, East Kent Regiment – the Buffs initially on 8th December 1892 he would serve at home until 5th December 1894 when he travelled to India. Whilst in India he was present on operations during the Relief of Chitral between 2nd April 1895 and 18th September 1895, and then on operations on the Punjab Frontier which lasted from 10th June 1897 through to 6th April 1898.
On 19th June 1898 he would return to the UK and on 25th June 1898 he was posted to 2nd Battalion, East Kent Regiment and would travel to South Africa where he would see service at the Relief of Kimberley on 15th February 1900, in action at Paardeberg on 17th to 26th February 1900, and at Driefontein on 10th March 1900, as well as on operations in the Transvaal.
Mount returned from South Africa on 8th September 1902 and was finally discharge on 24th November 1904.
