Boer War pair awarded to Private J. Compson, Royal Welsh Fusiliers who saw service in South Africa during the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony and Transvaal.

James Compson was born in Birmingham and joined up on 20th October 1899, initially serving at home until 24th August 1900 when he would travel to South Africa and take part in the Boer War on operations in Cape Colony and Transvaal, before returning home on 4th March 1901.
Returning to South Africa on 27th August 1901 he would remain there until 4th February 1903 when he would return home for the final time. Compson would then serve for a further 8 years before being discharged on 19th October 1911.
