Boer War pair awarded to Gunner W.T. Hart, 77th Battery, Royal Field Artillery who would see service in South Africa during the Boer War where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony as well as being present at the actions at Paardeberg from 17th to 26th February 1900, at Driefontein on 10th March 1900, Johannesburg on 31st May 1900.

William Thomas Hunt was born in Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire and attested on 26th March 1891 and saw service at home with the Royal Field Artillery, he would be apprehended by a civil power on 25th December 1893 and convicted of assault, subsequently being imprisoned for 14 days. He would later be transferred to the Reserve on 26th March 1898.
Subsequently recalled to Army Service under the Special Army Order of 7th October 1899 he would go on to see service in South Africa during the Boer War with 77th Battery, Royal Field Artillery where he would take part in the operations in Cape Colony as well as being present at the actions at Paardeberg from 17th to 26th February 1900, at Driefontein on 10th March 1900, Johannesburg on 31st May 1900.
He would return to the UK on 11th September 1902 and would be discharged on 28th March 1903
